Here are four things you need to conquer the feed:
1. Think Through Your Intention
You know to avoid “posting to post”. To get the biggest bang for your buck, compile a content mix that includes:
User generated pics
Employee or Culture-related pics
Motivational text or Funny memes
2. Post frequently & Consistently
A recent study found nearly ⅓ of open accounts are “inactive,” meaning they post one or fewer times in a month. Think through you content strategy, and ensure volume is a component of your plan. If your followers are most active on Instagram at a specific time, schedule posts to go live in that window so you’re reaching them at the moment they are paying attention.
And no matter what your content theme may be, use similar filter and lighting for all your Instagram photos. This gives your content an identity and recognition among others.
3. Tag. Tag. Tag.
You’re putting a lot of effort into your account, now let’s make sure it gets seen. Put the platform to work for you by tagging other pages, adding hashtags to your caption, and specifying a location wherever possible. Wondering why? Posts that include another handle gain 56% more engagement. Posts with at least one hashtag gain 12.6% more engagement. And posts with a location receive 79% more engagement. Just make sure your tags are relevant to the content of your post!
4. Slow Down Before Tapping “POST”
Instagram’s most successful brands understand the power of an image. If you don’t have a set content calendar, you risk falling into that “just posting to post” category. Successful IG brands put a lot of effort behind content creation, and they definitely aren’t posting an image on a whim.
Think through what your posts will look like next to each other, plus how they’ll tell a story overall. Warning: a cohesive style may cause serious grid envy. If you’re struggling with the idea of taking a large number of ultra-interesting, ultra-visually-appealing images, don’t stress. You can design the perfect picture from scratch using a bit of imagination and photo editing. Even better? Apps like Mendr let you leave the edits to the professionals - - - just share your vision and submit your request.
